Garden Laid In; Harvest Looked For By High Summer

Fourteen tomato plants set, twenty-two Gold Rush potatoes hilled in. The pole beans have already taken the trellis.

The whole of the spring planting was concluded over the weekend, with the heirloom tomatoes, the peppers, and the squashes all laid in by hand. A separate sauce bed of eight Amish Paste plants has been given its own quarter. Radishes are expected by the third week of June, and the carrots, four varieties strong, will come in succession through the summer. The full almanac, with the harvest dates, the pest watch, and the care notes, is set out in a separate page.
